Today marks the first public hearing of the House Intelligence Committee’s investigation into Russian interference in our elections. At the outset of this investigation, we begin with circumstantial evidence of collusion between Russia and U.S. persons, and direct evidence of deception.
I don’t want to prejudge any of the conclusions we might reach regarding the role of persons associated with the Trump campaign, but there is certainly enough evidence for us to conduct a thorough investigation. The American people have a right to know, and if we are to protect ourselves from the further Russian interference we can expect, we have a need to know.
